A Bit About L.B.J. On This Day 44 Years Ago ...

Wednesday, 2nd July ...

Hands up who knew?

It's forty four years ago to the very day, that the then American President,
Lyndon B. Johnson, signed one of the most important pieces of legislation in the whole history of America.

Now, in case you've still not cottoned on, here's another clue.

The particular piece of legislation had caused enormous controversy right across the ever since it was introduced, the previous year, by President Johnson's predecessor, President
John F Kennedy.

You can read lots more right here.

And we all lived happily ever after.

Right?

Ya think?

Nice to see you hadn't deserted us all together, Brit. Only joking - it's nice to see you back.

As for Clinton, Peres, Sharon and their ilk -- it's not just them -- hypocrisy is what politicians DO. 99 out of a 100 of them would sell their own mother if it furthered their own agendas.

Hi Richard,

Last April we saw a performance based on the Johnson-King discussionsanddeal in a small experimental theater in Manhattan. The play was 100% historically accurate and I learned a lot from it. You cannot know how much each man needed the other. It reminds me of the Mandela DeKlerk deal.

I think there are always opportunities to make peace and to make good but you need determined politicians, a little dose of political courageand realism.
