Blogroll Me! How This Old Brit Sees It ...: Will Obama walk the walk the way he talks the talk?

21 January 2009

Will Obama walk the walk the way he talks the talk?

We're as relieved as most of the rest of the world, that the madman above has gone.

And we're as hopeful as most of our planet's people are, that the man below honestly & truly (and swiftly) definitely does usher in "change", as repeatedly promised.

But we judge people by their deeds, not by their words.

That's why right now, we're reserving our right to reserve our judgement.

Obama as an orator is obviously, inarguabley awesome.

But then again, so was the old Brit below.

Don't just take our word for it. See and hear for yourself.

Just as Obama's powerful performance was perfectly delivered in a single take ~ so was the late great Lord Laurence Olivier's.

As the old saying goes ~ time alone will tell.

Different cloths, same tailor... :)

What matters is the "empire"... the "emperor" is insignificant... (unfortunately) :(

The old beliefs will be brought back to honor again: the whole secret knowledge of nature, of the divine, the demonic ... we will wash off the Christian veneer, and bring out a religion peculiar to our race ...

What the heck are you talking about?

What or who do you mean when you say "our" race?

I'm not holding my breath. Obama has spoken to AIPAC and they have instructed him. In Ha'aretz they're already cackling about "a new relationship between Blacks and Jews".

With courage he could solve the I/P problem more or less at a stroke and be remembered as the new Mandela. But will he have that courage? Some people in his cabinet are spending more time in the shitter right now, crapping their pants. But time may show they had nothing to fear... Obama's desire to create unity may sound laudable but it could also be crippling in the short-medium term...

If history is anything to go by, the I/P conflict will be a 'legacy project', reserved for the second term 2012 - 2016.

I'm another one who wants to wait and see.
Americans have happily bought the package. Problem is that it's like buying from a catalougue. It all looks lovely on as shown in a full colour glossy photo, with brilliant ad copy accompanying it.

But how many times have millions of eager buyers been so disappointed by the crap they've found inside the all wrapped up, packaged and boxed up so alluringly?

I don't know about other here but in my lifetime I've voted for all three main British political parties. It depends, or should do, on the candidates' clearly explained and defined policies.

Ask the average American what Obama's policies are and most of them will say "CHANGE!"

How many voters ever asked either themselves or their party wallahs = what, how, why, where and when?

Can't find any real fault in anyone's thinking here.

Apart from anonymous' obvious racist meanderings. Whether he or she is white, black, brown, yellow or pink and white striped, the "OUR race" is a dead giveaway.

Btw, LOVED the Richard 111 clip. Olivier was undoubtedly the daddy of 'em all.

Thanks for keeping me going -- from going insane, too.
