Israel/Gaza: This Old Jewish Brit, Sir Gerald Kaufman standing up to be counted

A long, long time ago before he was ever honoured with a knighthood, we very briefly met and spoke to Gerald Kaufman. (But that's not really relevant to the rest of this tremendously, refreshingly, revealing report. Probably just a bit of vanity, posing and/or name dropping on our part, eh? Well, none of us are perfect are we? Except maybe mad members of certain self proclaimed, 'master races', eh?)

No matter.

This video of Sir Gerald Kaufman delivering an emotional, open, brave, honest and true speech in our old Brit houses of parliament, is a "must NOT miss" sight for sore eyes.

You'd better believe us.

Well said Sir Gerald. We salute you.

[Huge hat-tip to our old fellow blogger friend
"Gert" for finding this extra special, recent, unmissable video, btw.]

Hi Rich:

Thanks for the H/T (not necessary really, we're all in this together). But I do want to draw attention to my last post which very significantly (and thanks to Jews sans Frontieres) shows that Jewish Israeli support for a Two State solution is very low and that most seem to favour an "Iron Wall" (Apartheid-style) 'solution'. This is very important in order to explain Israel's past and current behaviour towards the Palestinians.

Best.

I can't name-drop like you can, Richard. I wish I could meet this brave man though ~ to shake him by the hand.

Seldom have I witnessed such a moving, and at the same time strong speech delivered at Westminster. Seldom have I witnessed such sincerity AND true heroism there either.

Gerald Kaufman is an honourable man;one of a dying breed.

Bravo, sir.

Good on you, Sir Gerald.
I have to point out one mistake you made though.
You said Israeli treats Palestinians like dirt. Wrong!
The truth is they see them as "LESS" than dirt.

Three cheers, anyway. You're a good un alright.

If I were at all religious, I'd say, "God bless 'im!" A true hero is one who speaks out even when the majority are against him. In my book Gerald Kaufman is a true hero. This video is going in Sparrow Chat's sidebar and will likely remain there some time.

Let us ignore the answer, let us blind ourselves to the pole of execution.

Let us all strip down to the bare naked bones and let go.

Can you stand your own filthy self? I know I can't.

The memories burned onto the concrete foundations of this sad, sad society ... see it, worship it and love it, the true liberator.

After thousands of years seeking the face of God, we have alas found and
tamed but a single finger.

But this finger is enough, enough to let loose the hell on earth and to set
free the winds of apocalypse.

Aren't we all ready, aren't we all set to go on with the world?

Aren't we all tired and and finally sick of the burden of life?

Even if there is a God, He could never ever love a world like mine!

And even if He ever did, isn't this time to say that it's not right?

In Heaven we are told, there are only beautiful things and only beautiful songs.

Why would Heaven open its gates for a human soul? We were made of dirt but
weren't we supposed to improve from dirt to something more; we really haven't, have we?

Do you believe in mankind? I know I don't.

There is an afterlife, or so I'm told, but I have no idea what it is.

Maybe we have a second chance, only to make sure that we make all the same mistakes over again.

Isn't it time we stopped hoping for a change and started making a difference?

Do you believe in nuclear war? I know I do.

Aren't we all ready, aren't we all set to go on with the world?

Aren't we all tired and and finally sick of the burden of life?

Even if there is a God, He could never ever love a world like mine!

And even if He ever did, isn't this time to say that it's not right?

A brave man indeed, if he stood up against this lot:

'Name and shame British "Friends of Israel".'

I'm surprised mega-Fascist Jackie Smith wasn't on the list!

Keep it up, both!
