Two Old Brits And One Young(er) Yank ...
*
R.I.P.
Dear old George Melly has died.
A definite 'one-off' fellow old Brit and much loved & admired, brother 'Scouser' and extraordinarily special, entertainer.
(*Hat tip for George's tribute video to Mr Michael Scott.)
Also, there's something special of own which we want you to see - 'This Old Brit Proudly Presents'.
Last but by no means least, amble across to 'The Liberal Avenger' to see something else worth seeing.
It's regarding this young(er) Yank -- the best president the American people won't ever be allowed to elect.

I love your new scrapbook blog idea, Richard. I commented on it just now -- it seems I'm the first -- huh -- "first" -- for the first time in my life I think. :-}
Sad about Melly - what a character he was.
Oh, and you're right about Kucinich. What a shame.
Kiwi: You and Richard are right about Kucinich, but haven't you heard about "The American Way"?
You can't be president if your 'short' ... but it's okay if your stupid.
I also love the new blog, and Kiwi's right again ,,, you're lucky man ... as well as a good one.
George Melly WAS entertaining but he was more than bit of a snob.
He was making his name before it became fashionable to be a Liverpudlian\scouser (thanks to the Beatles, Jerry & Pacemakers, Cilla Black, Billy Fury, Billy J. Kramer and all the others of the MerseySound era. Like a lot of other oldies such as Arthur Askey, Michael Holiday, Ted Ray, Jimmy Handley and plenty of others -- he tried to hide the fact that he came from Liverpool. He was one of those who felt ashamed to speak with a Liverpudlian accent.
All that being said though, he gave you your money's worth when you went to watch him -- including gradually getting more & more pissed (in front of your eyes) while there on the stage.
