Tim Ryan Of Ohio And Rocky Anderson Of Salt Lake City -- Two Men With Spines ...
Holy cow!
Have we got something special to show you.
So hold onto your hats everyone.
And boy, oh boy, oh boy, do we mean just that.
At last, you can see and hear (and we DO mean hear) a US Democratic politician with a spine.
An absolutely, exemplary example of an extraordinary, straight talking, tell-it-like-it-is, truth-teller.
One with as big a pair of the proverbials as it's probably possible for a politician to possess -- unless they were an actual elephant.
Maybe even a mammoth.
What a man this Timothy Ryan of Ohio is.
What a bloody magnificent, marvelous mountain of a man.
Enough, already.
We're sure you'd rather hear this electrifying, Ryan speech from the floor of the House, than hear any more from us.
So, enjoy.
Take heart, too.
And hope that maybe there are more like this man, lurking somewhere in the wings .
** UPDATE: We've just been infomed that there ARE more men like this. Here's the proof. It's another MUST watch.
Here's Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson telling thousands of Utah protesters why questioning the Iraq war is the heart of patriotism.
Btw, big hat-tips to a couple of good online friends, Doug Watt and Stiff Mittens

There's also this guy:

There's a few of them around. Not enough yet, but it might be getting better.
Bloody hell, Richard. What a mountain of man is an understatement. Maybe he'll shame some others into standing up to be counted.
Yeah, who'da thought we'd get such a treasure when we got rid of Trafficant? (I'm pretty sure Tim is who got his seat) Needed Karma for Ohio. This speech was a while ago, iirc, so, unfortunately, few were shamed (and so many are simply shameless). It is getting a bit better.
More clips of Rocky Anderson are available here: http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/
Quicktime 7 required. Worth getting for clips at that site.
Richard, Stiff and anonymous, thank you. I'll spread these around. Music to my ears.
Well who'da thunk it? Speaking truth to power - again - on top of Olberman. Balls seem to be coming back into fashion.
Thanks, Richard, for catching these.
Unfortunately, it's just too few, too far between. But it's a start.
That Ryan guy could give George Galloway a run for his money, don't you think?
just the fact that Rocky Anderson is leading protests & speaking out in the reddest of red states has GOT to put the Big Fear into Bush. This latest SLC protest came about in spite of last-minute schedule changes & other shenanigans by Bush-handlers to try & short-stop any expression of non-support in an area they consider to be total Bush Country. Oh, I hope this is a flame that catches fire! D.K.
Hi Richard, I've Just finished doing a piece on markfromireland about how the MoD sold some APC's to a pack of American mercenaries for £2,933.33 each. While at the same time British soldiers are expected to ride around in "soft" landrovers.
Neither you 'nor any other Brit will enjoy reading it. It's an absolutely scandalous story.
I've done a summary of it on "guides."
Well I see we're all happy to learn what we've learned - though not yet, exactly ecstatic. Still, who knows were it is all leading? A big backlash brewing? Let's hope so.
Stiff, link appreciated. Ta!
Mark, I'll take a gander. It does sound as though it stinks.
Gander, btw, leads me enicely to this (o/t) Turkey update.
* US Ambassador to Turkey Ross Wilson said yesterday that the US is watching Turkey for its decision on sending troops to a planned UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon. "We encouraged Turkey to play such a role," said Wilson and stressed that Turkey is a democracy and so its elected representatives will decide. "We are waiting for Turkey's decision," Wilson said.*
More here - a good, ever updating keeper-link.
"Come into my parlour" said the spider to the fly. Or in this case said Wilson to Erdogan. I wonder if Wilson also said, "And, of course, I'll still respect you in the morning"?
Ummm...... just an idle question, but has Wilson ever worked for or with Negroponte?
Seems to me US/Israel will be keen to draw Turkey in deeper with their plans particularly after the rebuff to Israel over the fighter jets upgrade cancellation.
Methinks Turkey is key to the bombing/invasion of Syria and Iran. No doubt, Turkey will have been promised lots of things regarding the PKK by US/Israel; things which will be promptly forgotten.
Who in their right mind would do a deal with pathological liars?
Germany has been close to Turkey for a very long time and is no doubt presuring Turkey behind the scenes using the EU membership as a carrot and stick. But if the EU could see big benefits in including Turkey, then it would already be in. I can here that "respect in the morning" refrain again.
But given the level of govt corruption in drugs and illicit arms sales (incl nuclear) together with the new armed forces chief, I don't hold out much hope for Turkey doing the best thing by it's citizens (and everyone else) and staying out of it.
The recent bombings are to spook the citizenry and also the vacillating politicians, IMO
