Lebanon Latest: Four UN Peacekeepers Blasted To Death By Israel ...
Ehud Olmert, prime minister of Israel asks:"Why on earth would we deliberately target U.N. observers?"
We two wonder why, too. Well over three quarters of the whole world wonders why, too.
Though we must say the word "observers" springs immediately to our minds. How about yours?
What we two also wonder as we write, is what the American UN 'walrus', John Bolton wants the world hear of what he thinks.
If & when we get to know - via either what we find out for ourselves or from readers if they beat us to it -- we shall certainly be sure to share it.
In the meantime, here's a tid-bit about the blasting of UN troops by bomb-happy Israeli forces, courtesy of the the BBC.
Israel troops 'ignored' UN plea
The four unarmed UN observers from Austria, Canada, China and Finland, died after their UN post in the town of Khiam was hit by an Israeli air strike on Tuesday.
Had Israel responded to the requests, "rather than deliberately ignoring them", the observers would still be alive, a diplomat familiar with the report said.
UN peacekeepers in south Lebanon contacted Israeli troops 10 times before an Israeli bomb killed four of them, an initial UN report says.
The post was hit by a precision-guided missile after six hours of shelling, diplomats familiar with the probe say.
Ten times?

It was precise Richard it was very precise. The Israeli government wanted the Israeli army to precisely bombard the UN position and kill some of the peacekeepers so the Israeli army did it. Not for the first time either.
If you're going to commit war crimes if you're going to slaughter civilians then it makes sense to try to eliminate witnesses.

I'm already preparing myself, for the shame I will feel, for the deplorably coward response of the kow-towing Canadian govt. for this latest outrage. (BTW, It is a conservative minority govt.)
Here is the exact copy of my email I sent to Mr. Harper in response to an earlier issue, when he has scandalously characterized Israel brutal invasion of Lebanon as a 'measured response':
Dear Right Honorable Mr. Harper;
Measured response? Hundreds of civilians are dead, including dozens of children, tens of thousands are fleeing. The infrastructure of a country lays in ruin. The international community and the Canadian Public is watching the developments in total horror and that's your response?
I am absolutely outraged and ashamed in the same time, that we have a head of government, who supposed to represent the opinions and desires of Canadians everywhere, but instead we have a political whore there, the equivalent of a modern day Quisling. Didn't you promised in your lying election campaign, that you will not neccessarily follow the Yanks, in every issue?

I am coming in late on this particular incident - the article in the Guardian re same seemed to indicate it was intentional. It's hard to claim 'miscommunication' when you're bombing the same location for several hours. I would like to see the transcript of the call made by the senior Irish officer to Israeli high command.
More details emerging. It now looks like there may have been 16 calls in all - ten plus six.
Your description of John Bolton as a walrus is priceless. And it will be interesting to see how this entire thing pans out.
In my mind, there has been no question about it from the beginning; the UN Observers were deliberately killed because they were observing what the Israelis were trying to hide i.e. warcrimes as Mark pointed out.
I thought that immediately because as Mark also pointed out, they have done this before.
Also, remember the Israeli strike onthe USS Liberty? It was a communications/listening post. The Israelis couldn't allow even their allies to know what crimes they were committing.
With allies like the Israelis, you don't need enemies. Britain has also found that to it's cost in the 1940s.
They are as mad as cut snakes as we say in Oz.
The world should isolate them economically and physically and let them vent their rabid madness on each other.

It is time to find your cojones, wherever they are hiding, for this latest outrage of Israel, who have deliberately targeted and murdered an unarmed Canadian, who served in a UN mission in Lebanon, as an observer, or you should forever live in shame as a kow towing moral midget, who has sold his Soul to the Devil.
1)I demand, that you have serve the Israeli ambassador the strongest diplomatic protestation, demanding full apology and full compensation for the victim's family, giving them a firm deadline, of no more than 3 days.
2)Barring full satisfaction forthcoming from the Israeli government without reluctance or temporization, you will recall the Canadian ambassador for consultation and for contemplation of appropriate retaliatory measures, such as re-imposing full visa requirements on Israeli citizens visitation to Canada and so forth.
This will be an excellent test case, to find out, if we still have at least as much practical souvereignity in our hand like Communist China, or we have sunk bellow them, due to the assistance of traitors like you.
