Blogroll Me! How This Old Brit Sees It ...: Now Another American Nightmare Looms; Chemical Experiments On Children ...

18 November 2005

Now Another American Nightmare Looms; Chemical Experiments On Children ...

This pitiful picture was procured - via Australia - from their WW2 archives, showing just some of the suffering of some of the children who were the 'subjects of experiments' carried out by Germany's Third Reich; with the full knowledge and consent of that country's then dictatorial leader.

That, of course, was then.

But this that follows is now. This is today. This is George W. Bush's 21st century 'home of the brave and land of the free,' United States of America.

And it's thanks to a long time, online friend and fellow [tireless, voluntary] researcher 'harper' from TAPA forum [see permanent side-bar link], for first flagging to us this tale of terror in the homeland, set soon to be.

So read what follows and weep -- and for pity's sake, Americans awake.

1./ Children who "cannot be reasonably consulted," such as those that are mentally handicapped or orphaned newborns may be tested on. With permission from the institution or guardian in charge of the individual, the child may be exposed to chemicals for the sake of research.
That's number one. Now here's number two.

2./ Parental consent forms are not necessary for testing on children who have been neglected or abused.
Then next comes number three.

3./ Chemical studies on any children outside of the U.S. are acceptable.
Why and how in the name of hell, mainstream US media's faux television news screens and the printed-paper-press front pages haven't been absolutely awash with such an astoundingly awful announcement as this, is impossible to imagine.

Nevertheless, here's some more.

ALERT: EPA TO ALLOW PESTICIDE TESTING ON ORPHANS & MENTALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN

Friday, November 18, 2005

Public Comment Period for this rule Closes December 12, 2005

Public comments are now being accepted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its newly proposed federal regulation regarding the testing of chemicals and pesticides on human subjects.

On August 2, 2005, Congress had mandated the EPA create a rule that permanently bans chemical testing on pregnant women and children. But the EPA's newly proposed rule, misleadingly titled "Protections for Subjects in Human Research," puts industry profits ahead of children's welfare.

The rule allows for government and industry scientists to treat children as human guinea pigs in chemical experiments in the following situations ....

Therefore, This Old Brit earnestly and respectfully requests - nay, urgently and implicitly implores - every American citizen to do their honour bound duty, in the name of all mankind, and create a national outcry/uproar as has rarely been created before.

Please pass this information on as far and as wide as possible, for as many hours as your own particular personal day may allow you to. And please ask that all those you make aware of this impending possible nightmare, to do exactly the same.

For forewarned is forearmed. And even now, that dreadful December 12th deadline looms ever larger.

This Old Brit begs you - don't delay - do something, right away.

Because, make no mistake, these evil 'entities' are talking about EVERYONE'S babes, children and grandchildren -- EVERYWHERE -- including yours and mine.

Read the revolting rest about this indescribably, inhuman and insane idea at the link below.

Then please act fast - before it's too late. This must not be allowed to pass into law.

Never, ever, anywhere.

Same problem as usual though, Elaine. Most people don't have a bloody clue what's going on. It's down to you, me and the other bloggers to plaster the whole world wide web with warnings on this. Soo it will be too late.

And btw, I hope you day at the hospital went ok, and that the test results were or will be ok. Pains in the bum ain't they - hospitals, tests, etc?

Thanks so much for writing about this, Richard, where it will get a wider audience, and thanks for crediting me, but I'm just one of several. Here are a few articles in chronological order of what's been going on, in case others think it's too horrific to be true. This is the first time I've seen that the EPA was taking public comments, so, as you said, this is the time to publicize and complain loudly about this outrage.

Torture abroad, now poison at home.

The Founding Fathers would be so proud.

If they can do this to those who can't consent, they'll try it against those who won't consent.

graniab,

It's close to home with me as well. And close to hitting rock bottom too, wouldn't you say?

Thanks for helping spread this around.

Harper,

Don't be so modest - you deserve lots of credit. Look at the extra links you've supplied again. Look at all the stuff you've searched out before - on a regular basis.

Mark,

It's awful isn't it? But these arrogant animals aren't content with poisoning just 'at home' - ANY chidren ANYWHERE outside America - are being proposed to be effing 'fair game'.

Y'know, real wars have actually started over 'less' than this kind of thing.

I am an American. I am a mom, and I am so ashamed of this "country" and "this government"- and It's true this dictatorship needs to end. People here are frustated and tired and trying to figure what to to do to get rid of this regime- we all aren't beerswilling-redneck- mutants- I promise....

I need to digest this and research a little also. Does anyone here have a lexis/nexis account and would they be willing to do some searches?

dubhaltach,

Firstly, thanks for your interest; it's most appreciated.

Sencondly though, I myself am the world's worst techie; I don't even understand what leix/nexis means.

And as for doing 'extra' searching, although I'd dearly love to do much more than I already do, believe me, I'm not honestly up to it.

You would not believe how long it actualy takes me to put together a piece here, which takes not much more than a minute or two to read.

That said, I do hope there are others who can and will help in that respect.

In other words, those who I consider to be patently complicit by their silence, apathy, etc.

gert,

Thanks to you, too. It needs to be spread far & wide.
Awful's an understatement I think. It's so awful that it's almost impossible to take in. It's more like the begining of the end - not just for America either.

This is worse than Hitler's Germany, Old Brit.

We are all supposed to have learned from the horrors of the past. And we are also a further 70 years along the road of 'civilisation' - at any rate, some of us are.

If this is allowed to happen, America truly will be the world's Great Satan - no ifs and buts.

(You are doing the world a great service by highlighting these things but sadly, there are many who won't thank you for it).

Richard --

Gads, the international reaction to this proposal is gonna be huge. Poisoning kids as guinea pigs for corporate products *anywhere* is just so unutterably cruel it'd warm the shriveled cockles of Himmler's heart.

And what Philip said ... every word. (And many thanks, too, to harper for finding this important story.)

About the Poisoning- I hate to say this- but this proposal has come up before- and was fought by many-EV/health activists and congress, and it will have to be fought again- last time the expreiment was suposed to be carried out in Florida ( yes, Where King George's Brother reigns....)

It will have to be fought all over again...

( Richard- just wanted to let you know that http://watergatesummer.blogspot.com/, has been updated...it is about Katrina...and thanks for the Great Ali comment-it was excellent- cheered me immensely!)

Enigma,

I know they've tried to get this through before, but it just proves how determined they are to have their way -- trying yet again to slip in & hide the same idea amongst better disguised filth. (I'll check out your place again later).

Richard,

Lexis/nexis is a database search engine. It's used by journalists lawyers etc. You can research:

News (US Newspapers
US Regional Papers
Non-US Newspapers
Major World Papers
Magazines
Transcripts
Wire Stories
TV News Video )
Business
Case law and legal texts
Business public records
Iraq War
Terrorism

You've two types of searches basic and advanced

The problem is that a subscription is pretty expensive:

However there is LexisNexis AlaCarte That allows free searching and you only pay for what you download usually around US$3.00 per document. It is very useful and I recently used for some oppposition research very very successfully. But it can be wickedly expensive if you download a lot so use with care.

The URL for those who want to copy and paste is:

I emailed James Wolcott, but he's gone 'missing' - he's not even posted anything at all at his own site - for several days - but I live in hope.

Richard,

I tried such a MS print media assault once, including a few American "Big Beasts" and never ever got as much as a single acknowledgement.

Our MSM are blinkered: they won't publish things that might upset readers or cost them subscriptions.

Our newspapers, in terms of newsworthyness, are in decline. Even the broadsheets are increasingly leaning towards the "lifestyle" mag, with exception of the centre pages, like leader comments etc, but they also make up only a small part of the whole paper. It's all descending into this pot-pourri of "niceties"...

Have you tried mailing by snail mail, rather than email?

Good folks, cool it. I read the EPA proposal, and the part you're getting upset about is the part that allows an experimental treatment in the absence of a signed release, if that treatment may bring essential benefits.

To put this into perspective, similar rules allow people like me to try to save the life of a child even if there is no parent or guardian present to sign a release. In the absence of such a rule, I would have had to let unaccompanied minors die. I'm so glad I only worked as a surgeon in a country much less anal retentive about all this than the USA, so I never had to stop from doing my best to save children (or adults, for that matter), with or without anyone's consent.

IOW, I think you all severely misunderstood what this is about, and I'm sure you're all going to flame my ass to the horizon and beyond, but so be it. I can't help but follow my own understanding of the EPA proposal.

PS: I'm *not* a Bush supporter (I'm not even an American).
PPS: I *am* an MD, whether you like it or not (experience tells me you don't).
PPPS: I have no ties to "big bad pharma", or any other chemical industry of any kind.

4:17 pm
Blogger Richard said...

martin,

No flames from me, I assure you. I understand what you're saying and accept that others of your calling see this the same way too.

However, we're dealing with the current, serially discredited Bush administration & lawmakers here -not MDs like yourself.

If "exposure to pesticides" means only "treatments" - that's how the proposed legislation should be worded. Then there would be absolutely no ambiguity. Be it intentional or not.

People, in the main, do not trust politicians anywhere near as much as they do their physicians/surgeons. And rightly so, I'd say.

6:24 pm
Blogger Richard said...

piet,

I don't understandwhat you're saying. Btw, I saw a similar out of context & mysterious posting elsewhere, posted by someone called piet.

6:27 pm
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Richard,

About "if exposure to pesticides means only treatments"...etc. Well, yes, that would be confusing, but this isn't the case. The proposal consists of different parts. One part talks about exposure to pesticides, and another talks about treatments of significant benefit.

In my opinion, this entire misunderstanding is due to a mixup of the wording between two sections that talk about different things.

And, yes, I do see why you lose all confidence in anything coming from this administration, but I don't think it's right. It leads to wrong conclusions and may have the opposite effect from what you desire; robbing children of possible new cures.
