Raving, Robertson Requires Restraining ...

Conterfeit Christian

Right wing religious rodent and reviled rabble rousing reprobate, Pat Robinson, yesterday revolted well over half of America and the vast majority of the rest of the civilised world.

This rancid, raving retard has finally lost it completely. It seems the pathetic, potty prick's brain has simply self combusted. The blustering, barmy buffoon seems to have gone stark, staring bonkers.

For his own safety as well as that of several million other sane souls, surely he should be committed -- either to a state prison or to a secure mental institution.

Try to keep your eyes from popping out of their sockets, and endeavour to elevate your jaw from the floor when you find out the following.

.... if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it.
Can you credit it? Talk about counterfeit-Christian cant. My God. In the name of Jesus H, what kind of cock-eyed, criminal claptrap is this?

For what it's worth, This Old Brit's opinion - and answer - is that it's quite simply and clearly, sheer unadulterated, certifiable insanity.

This idiot, ideologue is inciting cold blooded murder. Just imagine it. The crazed clown is clearly canvassing for a killing. He's actually advocating an assassination. It beggars bloody, belief.

Moreover, the mad, megalomaniac of a monster further ferments his fanatical followers fantasies by sarcastically suggesting some money can be saved, if his insane idea is implemented.

Witnessed what else he waffled.

It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war.
Be it by being brought to book by the police and then placed, poste haste, behind bars -- or by being strapped inside a straight jacket and shoved straight into some sort of padded cell -- such a dangerous, demonic, demented creature as he so obviously is, should swiftly be swept straight up off the street.

Get you breath back, then get ready to gasp again, as you get the gist of more of his gibbering, gabbling garbage.

We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one,

In case you haven't already heard or realised, raving Robinson was raging about the premeditated murder of another country's democratically elected President -- Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

What makes this man's madness even more alarming is that his absolutely, outrageous outbursts were brazenly, broadcast publicly across America's airwaves.

Check out the incredulity of it all, at the Media Matters for America link below.

What is chilling is the lack of reaction from other Christian Leaders and RW politicians. Robertson is a true Christian, he wants to kill anyone who disagrees with him.

Chiulling is right, Doug.

If he spoke like that in the UK, he's either be deported back to whence he came, or just plain jailed.

Such 'incitement' is a crime here.

Just like Bush he is involved in many scandals, both are deemed leaders though not elected, muderous personalities (not the 1st time Robertson has called for someones assination) that claims to talk to God regularly, people send them both millions that can't see the truth though it's staring them in the face, and in 2 live polls on CNN as many supported his statement as Bush's handling of Iraq 20%.

Frightening I say.

sandra, it is scary that they can't see what's staring them in the face.

It seem this madman [and his misguided, fanatical followers] can't understand even the simplest things.

For example, "Thou shalt not kill," or "Thou shalt not covert."

daliwood, I could not agree more about that ilk giving true Chrisiians a bad name. Likewise that it's shameful many more don't speak out publicly and forcefully against him.

I found that CNN vote scary too, though I must admit I wasn't surprised - that kind of thinking seems par for the right winger's course these days.

As for Robertson's real state of mental health though -- I wonder?

Don't you think [underneath it all] he knows exactly what he's doing and saying? I mean, hasn't he learned from experience that spewing such shit makes millions?

Blatant hypocrisy from Robertson, to be sure. But, Robertson has always been the right-wing/big-money agenda mouthpiece for that segment of the population that is willing to listen to him. You may find this bit from Greg Palast interesting:

So when may we expect to see the British and US government demand condemnation from the 700 Club adherants and all evangelical organizations and clergy with ties to Robertson?
After all,Muslim clergy and Muslims in general have been scolded and harrumphed at when they have not _personally_ taken responsibility for condemning the terrorist acts committed by the mad dogs running in their midst.

comrade, when indeed? I hope I'm around to see it - I'd love to live that long.

You're right about the Muslim situation, too.

Just as loony fundamentalists always manage to do - they get genuine people dragged into the messes of their fundie-making - and to their loust level. Quite wrongly of course.

If Robertson spoke like that in the UK, he'd be expelled to whence he came and/or just jailed. Quite rightly of course. And I'm sure what he's done is probably illegal in the US too - though I'm in NO way an expert in US law.

Extreme fundamentalists of ALL religions/races/whatever/where-ever - are the common curse of all decent people - of all religions/races/whatever/where-ever.

They blight all our lives.

comrade the day the US gov holds him responsible for his hate crimes and inciting violance is the same day Americans will be arrested for giving money to a known terrorist organisation(IRA) and Clinton held responsible for reopening those money lines in the 90s for election reasons. Much blood on their hands and heads.

Don't you know it's only illegal if it goes against the current govs wishes. He may get a slap on the hand from the publicity this is receiving, but that is it. He and his 20% murderous herd are what keep Bush going

Richard,
I'm a Canadian and The Lesser Ayatollah Robertson would definitely run up against our Federal Hate Crimes legislation.

The time Jesse Helms threatened President Clinton with violence when he visited some US Forces' base in Helm's jurisdiction comes to mind.
Those up here in Canada who follow such antics never could figure out why Helms was never charged with inciting physical violence against his own 'Commander in Chief'.

Hi Sandra,
Looking from the outside at the peculiar brand of Christianity practiced in parts of the USA,I'm always struck by the inability of so many tens of millions of Americans who are quick to bring up the name of Jesus, but are so incapable of making the transition from the Old Testament and into the New.
Any New Testament dabbling seems more to do with the triumph of Pauline doctrine over the teachings of Christ himself and Paul was no Jesus Christ!
This is evident in other parts of the world of course, but it seems a peculiar trait of the Born Again preachers and their followers in the USA.
The frightening thing is they seem to be calling the shots right now.
It's the vulgar mean spiritedness and lack of empathy in their beady, porcine, squinty, little eyes that shines out across the borders of the USA via TV.
It's why these True Believers are so dangerous to all of us.
The world sees what nasty pieces of work they really are and it can tar every citizen with the same brush. Especially when the rest of us,rolling our eyes and muttering "oh,not him again," just let it all slide.

sorry everyone - i think youve all got it wrong - except for the comment about richards superb alliteration. robertson wouldnt be kicked out of anywhere in the 'west' for these comments - blairs new laws are only intended to be used against people who might say something inflamatory like 'gee - i dont really believe in defending yourself against being invaded by a foreign force of overwhelming military power, but i can maybe somehow understand that *some people* might be upset and might at least try to defend their country' - that sort of rhetorical propaganda is certainly extradition-worthy - but pat robertson wasnt saying that. he was merely 'advocating' that, ya know, it'd be a good thing if someone got rid of chavez so that america wouldnt have to go to war again - cos it sure would cost a lot - and besides - he's threatening not to give america his oil - so it isnt really stealing. and besides - chavez is Leftist! who can blame robertson???

seriously tho - dont take robertsons comments out of context - the americans led the coup attempt there just a few years ago. robertson isnt a nutjob - well, he is, but he didnt make this call in isolation - and i doubt he did it without 'permission'. look at the non-denial denials coming from the whitehouse: 'its not our policy to blah blah blah'. the american govt wants to get rid of chavez - cos they hate democracy and all that jazz - and when some crazed 'lone christian' gunman kills chavez, theyll be able to claim that it wasnt state-sponsored assination (but they'll have the National Endowment for Democracy in there to make sure that the 'right' replacement is put in place - along with some snazzy-coloured revolution - with some perfect made-for-tv protest signs, in english, provided by rendon.

Yes- the US TV channels were getting alot of mileage last night over the Evangelical Fatwa - let's not underestimate his link to the Bush administration and Bush family - who - as far as I know have not yet commented. There was one hysterical moment on Lou Dobbs report when the Rev. Haggart (honcho of some evangelical baptist group) while debating Rev. Al Sharpton - start attacking Sharpton for not denouncing Justin Timberlake for ripping off Janet Jackson's dress and exposing - gasp her nipple during the Super Bowl intermission show. What is he smoking? Lou Dobbs wisely terminated the interview.

It's like Alan Simpson said describing the destructive tendencies of the
right wing extremists who control his party:

"I've been a Republican all my life.  They'll never throw me out.  But they have an amazing ability to eat their young.  They give each other the saliva test of purity every once in a while, and then they lose.  And then they just sit around and bitch for four years.  It's a fairly fascinating party."

He has in fact DENIED using the word 'assassination'. Not that calling it by any other name makes it any better. I think Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez should start taking bids on the job of assassinating Pat Robertson... just to be fair mind you. But here's the quandary... should Chavez take the low bid or the high bid? Then again MANY would do the job for free I am sure!

Here's a couple of stories I've collected on the issue... Click √ Here

4:36 am
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Robertson apologizes for assassination call
But he compared Chavez to Iraq's Saddam Hussein and Adolph Hitler and quoted German Lutheran theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "[That if a madman were] driving a car into a group of innocent bystanders, then I can't, as a Christian, simply wait for the catastrophe and then comfort the wounded and bury the dead. I must try to wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the driver."_CNN

They really do hate true democracies. Chavez is giving to the poor, giving them a chance of a fruitful non serf existance, and the corporations (Robertson is an investor and some of those big companies, just like African mines) are not happy. Nor the US because of the oil situation and Chavez won't play their game.

Political-economic analyst Al Martin says, "Pat's comments created a so-called 'flight to quality' bid in both the September long bonds and the Sep. dollar contracts."

Martin, whose website InsiderIntelligence.com specializes in market trading advisories, says that "Robertson sufficiently roiled the markets by creating a political rift. This was a problem which in turn created a 'flight to quality' in US assets because assets came out of Venezuela after he made those remarks on the 700 Club that Hugo Chavez should be killed."

"What's interesting to note," Martin continues, "is that a fund that Robertson is a large investor in, one of the deep offshore Smart Republicn Money trading pools, was a substantial purchaser of the Sep long bond and dollar contract indexes last night (Aug 22) just before he made those remarks.

"Of course it's impossible to tell how much money Pat Robertson would have made," says Martin in a recent interview, "but one could ask 'Did Robertson have a financial motive in making such a remark?'"

"People may remember how Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggart used to do this. Oral Roberts got himself in hot water for it by saying that the management of a certain publicly traded company were sinful and ungodly and the stocks should be sold. Subsequently this led to an SEC investigation. It was discovereed that when Oral had said that God had told him the stocks should be sold that he had already shorted the stock the day before -- or bought put options.

"They're just using their flock to enrich themselves," is Al Martin's conclusion. "They're using their religion as another device of market shilling."

What an arse I say

Not that I have ANY problem with rationing my limited energies... NOOOOO! Not ME! LOL!

sorry to hear about your health JD - altho your doctor is right - if you have better alternatives, hanging out online all day would suck. i read sites and blog literally all day - and it certainly couldnt be considered healthy. i totally agree that its difficult to write 'pieces' while trying to keep current about the hundreds of daily outrages - whenever i want to produce a piece, i really have to stop reading the others.

Earlier Doug asked why the mainstream Christians don't denounce Robertson and his ilk. I've asked Christian friends of mine in the ministry that question and I simply could not believe some of the answers I've gotten!

6 years ago they were answering: "We can't really say anything bad against a fellow Christian! Why how would that look? Anyway, what have they done against us?" (Hrmmmmmm.... First they came for the Jews...?)

5 years ago: "Because it would be wrong for us to publicly break with our fellow Christians especially when it looks like we'll have a chance to have a majority influence & run the Government." (Smacks of theocracy to me!)

A year ago: "Well you know Bush has promised to reign in the more radical voices and listen more to the mainstream Christians in his next term." (Sounds like a dodge to me)

9 months ago: "I'm sorry! We'd like to but we can't! They're just too powerful!" (Now THAT sounds like they're being strong armed!)

6 weeks ago: "They ARE getting WAY too big for their britches aren't they!"

A week ago: "Wait until you see our coalition letter! We've HAD IT with them!"

"The times they are a changin'!" The Religious Reich no longer has that broad based support they once enjoyed. The "average Christian" is taking their time to actually think about things now instead of letting themselves be pushed into acting based just on the say-so of the RR. For the last several years the RR has been preaching that "Taking your time and 'thinking about the issues' is a liberal ploy to confuse you on the true moral issues"! How's THAT for double talk! People are getting sick and tired of being made into bullies by people who claim it's the Christian thing to do. Sure, some people are bullies and enjoy bullying others. The Religious Reich is chock full of those kind! But the RRs do not represent the majority of Christians in America I'm happy to report! In fact the RRs are actually a SMALL BUT VOCAL MINORITY! Every one posting here knows that. What we need to do IMHO to speed up the rate of change in this country is to empower our mainstream Christian brethren and let the them know that it's OK to stop and think about things, that it's OK to tell the RRs to shut up and let them speak for themselves even if they agree with them, that it's time for THEM to reclaim THEIR religion and take back THEIR faith from those who have usurped it in the name of hate and politics!

We are also beginning to see divisiveness within the RR. Here in California we currently have 3 competing hate amendments to strip domestic partners of their rights and ban gay marriage on the initiative ballots with 2 or 3 more likely to be filed any day now. That united front is disintegrating... infighting & competition is beginning to take the place of unity.

On top of that the last 6 years of majority opportunities for graft and greed are catching up with them, one grand jury indictment at a time... just look at what's happening to Delay's buddies... dropping like FLIES! And Santorum's protégés ain't looking all that good either...

No, it's not time to sit back and watch the show by any means, as I've said before. But with a little work we can dump the religious neo-fascists and get back to the representative democracy our founding fathers intended us to be governed by.

Oh crap... there I go climbing on my soap box again. Hey... if and when you guys get tired of it just tell me to shut up, OK?
