This is embarrassing, but I'll relate it anyway. I was watching TV on the day Lennon was shot, and read a news crawl at the bottom of the screen: "John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City..."
I remember thinking, "Who's John Lennon?"
In my defense, I was only 13 at the time, and thought that disco was the greatest form of music ever invented.
