Antique store owners in lower Manhattan, ticket vendors at India's Taj Mahal and Brazilian business executives heading to China all have one thing in common these days: They don't want U.S. dollars.
Hit by a free fall with no end in sight, the once mighty U.S. dollar is no longer just crashing on currency markets and making life more expensive for American tourists and business people abroad; its clout is evaporating worldwide as foreign businesses and individuals turn to other currencies.

Negative dollar sentiment is growing in nations where the dollar was historically accepted as equal or better than local currency — and dollar aversion is even extending to some quarters in the United States.

The bottom line is that less and less people are willing to accept dollars - uniqueley - now even in America itself.
Surely that means - no matter what lies vested interest spew, or what high falooting explanations are offered - things have NEVER been worse for the once almighty dollar.
Anyone who travels regularly can't fail to have noticed there are fewer and fewer Americans to be seen. In Europe, at least.
Whether is is mainly due to the dollar not being worth much and not keenly sought after, or due the overall loss of respect for America in general, I don't know.
And to be perfectly honest, I don't care. I just like having to put up with fewer of them.
Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm an Englishman.
All I can say is that If I was a American with any money at all in the bank I'd be round there taking it all out and putting it under the matress instead. That way no matter who much further it's worth fell I'd at least have some left in real terms ~ in my own hands. Have you heard todays' latest? The bloody banks are starting to bust ~ and it's not just the little banks.
And yes, I know that's how panics start ~ but at times like these charity begins at home and it's every man and woman for themselves. To hell with keeping a cool head. Look after number one ~ no one else is going to.
I have one thing to say, I am an AMERICAN and proud of that. Remember if it was not for the USA you would all be speaking german and be a slave of someone. Did you forget that? If America was to stop giveing to the world then they all complain where are you America? If we stop sharing our food you would all starve. When something bad happens you all cry for help and we give aid, when we need help you turn and run. Wow that is great you are all so smart.
