Thank you Rachel for bringing you abysmal treatment, courtesy of Tony Bliar who is till trying to cover for his uniformed henchmen. At you and your fellow victim's expense.

That some victims have still had no governemntal contact, let alone any compensation is worse than appalling.

Even the criminal squatter in the whitehouse treated the 9/11 victims at least 1,000 better.

Also Blair telling the rest of us serfs to mind our own business and sod off and do as he says, not as he does, is a measure of contempt for the people who put him (and keep him) in a posisition of power. And I would add, the lap of luxury.

I hope all you victims have the last laugh on this little Hitler, and that we can ALL join in with you.

Superb stuff Richard and we indeed we owe a huge debt to Rachel.

I so wanted to write about the coverage in the Daily Mirror that featured Rachel yesterday, unfortunately the heat is driving me mad and I didn't get anything done.

It's great that Rachel reads This Old Brit as well.

However there were a number of things in the Mirror coverage that really concerned me:

1. Some of the Mirror's own commentary talked about a 9/11 Commission-style investigation, almost infering it as a gold standard that should be replicated here for the 7/7 bombings.

There certainly are some parallels: The 9/11 Commission was eventually put together after the families campaigned for it and against enormous resistance from the Bush administration, but as soon as it was agreed things started to take on a downward slant and it became clear where it was headed.

This Old Brit's readers may recall they were originally going to make Henry Kissinger the boss of the commission, which the New York Times noted as perhaps being a means to contain the investigation. When Kissinger didn't work out, they actually picked someone even worse to head it up, Philip Zelikow. To those who haven't had a chance yet, do read about Philip Zelikow on Wikipedia, it will make you shudder with disbelief. It was Zelikow's staff that did by far the majority of the work, not Kean, Hamilton etc (who are worthy of great criticism in their own right). (The familes (sadly unsuccessfully) tried to get rid of Zelikow)

Now, there were some very interesting things that slipped out of the 9/11 Commission, but by and large, things were either lied about, grossly distorted or evidence outright ignored or denied to come up with a way of rubber stamping the official story already out there, not 'investigating it'.

More worryingly the commission's report was used as a tool to manufacture a political mandate for various things.

Some of the US families have noted it leaves them with more questions than answers and that is being very polite. For many others, the 9/11 Commission report is regarded as the sinister whitewash of our times, indeed I do not recognise this description from the Mirror,

"Even President Bush finally acknowledged, after taking a similar tack, that there needed to be a 9/11 Commission.

The conclusions ended many of the myths around the September attacks. And the American people were reassured"

This statement is just false, a recent Zogby poll showed that less than half of Americans effectively accepted the findings of the 9/11 Commission.

My real concern is the UK is being led down an ally; being nudged to effectively replicate the 9/11 Commission, where it is being wrongly held up by the press and some politicians as an example to follow, but if we do that then you'll just have something that will appease a lot of the tabloid press, will reinforce a lot of political myths, but will appall anyone who has actually looked at it.

The tragic and worrying real parallel which tends to get obscured by the media is both the US and UK goverments put blocks on investigations and that familes who rightly wouldn't take no for an answer pushed for it, but in the case of the US, the resulting 9/11 Commission was far from satisfactory to put it extremely mildly.

Rachel, other victims and families, the UK, deserve better than a 9/11 Commission.

2. Greengrass in the Mirror.

If people wanted a sign that they are being dangerously mislead into a corrupt UK 9/11 Commission which will do everything it can to avoid genuine investigation while fabricating a mythical politcal zeitgeist, then they can look no further than Flight 93 propagandist Paul Greengrass's comments in the Mirror:

"It was called the 9/11 Commission Report. Without it, we could never have reconstructed what happened aboard the hijacked passenger jets, nor even begun to understand the complex forces that led up to the attacks on September 11th 2001 [..]

It stands today as a powerful and impressive exercise in accountability from a society mature enough to know that when faced with a calamity on the scale of 9/11, government's first task is to find out what happened and why"

Good grief! I think that says it all. The fact they are rolling out Greengrass who is waving the 9/11 Commission report as if it some authoritative, reliable account is extremely worrying.

3. The Mirror talked about 'Al Qaeda (sympathisers) trying to infiltrate MI5'

I don't even know how the Mirror could print this garbage that's been handed to them. It's just nonsense.

I'm going to put this on my own blog too as I didn't get to do it yesterday.

Thanks again Rachel and Richard.

Rachel -- you go, girl. Don't give them a minute's rest - they owe you and they owe so many others -- big time.
Richard -- continue to do a great job of spreading news that should be spread over the WWW and it's clear you keep good company as well.
Jultra -- I can't argue with a lot of that, but at least the 9/11 families were helped out pretty quick with monetary compensation. Don't forget that the lost earnings and constant expenses of hospital trips/visits alone helped these UK victims suffer even more -- when that was the LAST thing they needed.

There's far too much to hidden here.

Those with the inclination should research the amazing bunch of foreign 'VIPS' in the UK that day.

Besides Bush and god knows how many of his cia, fbi, and other 'specials' - in London were a prominent ex mayor of 9/11 new york, and a prominent Israeli ****
- there was a big 'security' thingy going on - the ny'er and the israeli top dog met - and all this while an ex cia agent was running ken livingstone's tube system.

I'm not claiming any conspiracy - I'm merely suggesting someone who knows how to and has time to and isn't scared to -- starts some serious work on all this

natalia, it's an online petition that only takes a few seconds of your life and you don't need to be a Brit or living here. What about all those fellow Americans who do live and work here ~ often with their families? And what about all the tourists from your country? Our capital city teams with them all year round.

Rachel seems choosey about who and what gets past her moderating system.

And my message [from 2 days ago] was completely 'pro' but never made it past her moderating.

Has anyone else here found the same happening to them?

Thanks v. much for the support,

I was out all day on 7/7 so was late passing comments. I'm sorry comment mod is on, but I've had death threats, race hate propoganda and conspiracy theorist idiots exonerating the bombers during the last 3 months, which I am not willing to publish, so I have to keep it moderated for now.

Thank you so much for signing.
