Yes, thank you Richard and thank you Mark.

It's good to know that their are "REAL" Christians still around, not just the loony, fundies of the USA. They have gotten Christianity a bad name for far too long.

They'll get their "reward" alright eventually, but they're in for an almighty shock since it most certainly won't be in heaven.

Hi Richard,

It's the "droch pingin" (that's Irish for bad penny) turning up again :-)

Here's a URL to the Union of Concerned Scientist presentation on Bunker Busters at the end of the presentation there's a menu of further presentations.

They've got a variety of material on a heap of topics. In your spare time* yuo migh like to take a look. I urge your readers to visit that presentation and then spend a while clicking around the site. When engaging with opponents or trying to get people to come off the fence it's always helpful to be able to make factual arguments. That's a good resource.

Thanks, all.

Now,

I'm cutting & pasting something I've just posted elsewhere. Mainly because over the weekend, in both Real life and online life, I've been involved in a few misunderstandings. Hopefully, the following is self explanatory. And hopefully, it may ring some bells with others.

(see next post, for cut & paste)

XXXXXX, thanks. I hope you did too.

Btw, a lot of people take it for granted, when I talk/post that way, that I’m religious. They're completely wrong. That couldn’t be further than the truth.

I gave up on organised “religion” about 50 years ago. Yep, really.

For the last 40 years I’ve been an agnostic. But that’s not to say that the message spread by the historical figure - the Nazarine carpenter’s son doesn’t make more sense to me than ANY other one I’ve ever heard.

“Religion” was invented by men - manipulative men. I shit on such men.

But those who “live” as that Nazarine recommended we all do - are/were my own inspiration. I “try” to live such a life, every day. I try to be tolerant, understanding, respectful, sypathetic, empathetic, helpful, unbiased, & so on & so forth. Yet, I still spit on organised religion.

Many people can’t get their heads around that. And that’s sad.

I hope now that I’ve explained, anyone reading this will know where I stand & where I’m coming from.

Oops. I’d like to add that I view ‘The Bible’ as nothing nore than a ruddy ring-binder. It’s stuffed full of ancient history, stupid nonesense and downright lies, all of which should be kept a trillion miles away from the three ‘gospels’.

Having said that, the ring-binder’s definitely got a FEW philosophical GEMS in there in there too. :^)

Amen, brother... Religion is just government with a different sales pitch.

Not to change the subject, but it is tax day here in the States and I just read this little nugget (that I found by way of James Wolcott's blog), and it provides a disheartening look into what my tax dollars are most likely doing these days:

Anyway, just thought you and your readers (hope you all had a pleasant holiday--we ate hummus and watched Life of Brian at my house) might find it interesting.

Mark,

Thanks for that link. I'll take a look a little later on.

Anon & Stiff,

Thank for yours too. Same applies re: later. As for the holiday weekend, I'm glad your's went well. We had a peaceful & quite one -- bu today that all comes to an end -- we've got our granddaughter back with us for a few more days. Gawd - where do 10 year olds get all their energy from? :^)

If only everyone thought & acted that way there wouldn't be any trouble anywhere - including even the US.

kiwi,

Too true.

Natalia,

Well, some things just have to be seen to be believed, I think. Sadly, even then theses things don't sink in with some.
Anyhow, the main thing right now is -- I hope you had a very happy Easter -- with many more to come.
