The World's Worst ...

Posted by Hello

OK, stand by your beds. Now hear this. The world's worst, when it comes to crooked Iraqi oil smuggling, is America. The worst by far. And that's no idle or malicious conspiracy claim; it's official!

Well, so say some US Senators sitting on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee On Investigations, during the current investigation into [ pre invasion] Iraqi sanctions busting. So, just how much more 'official' would you like it?

Below, is just one quick clip & paste example of how the world today [Tuesday, May 17th] is being told the truth. The truth about rampant, big-buck racketeering on a serial scale, by the United States of America.

Whether or not this revelation gets the massive MSM coverage and outraged public response it merits, remains to be seen. But, never let it be said that 'This Old Brit' didn't do his usual damnedest, to help spread the full story.

Sitting comfortably? Got the popcorn? Then here we go.

** "The United States administration turned a blind eye to extensive sanctions-busting in the prewar sale of Iraqi oil, according to a new Senate investigation.

A report released last night by Democratic staff on a Senate investigations committee presents documentary evidence that the Bush administration was made aware of illegal oil sales and kickbacks paid to the Saddam Hussein regime but did nothing to stop them.

The scale of the shipments involved dwarfs those previously alleged by the Senate committee against UN staff and European politicians like the British MP, George Galloway, and the former French minister, Charles Pasqua.

In fact, the Senate report found that US oil purchases accounted for 52% of the kickbacks paid to the regime in return for sales of cheap oil - more than the rest of the world put together.

"The United States was not only aware of Iraqi oil sales which violated UN sanctions and provided the bulk of the illicit money Saddam Hussein obtained from circumventing UN sanctions," the report said. "On occasion, the United States actually facilitated the illicit oil sales. " **

The above excerpt comes from 'The Guardian'. There's a link at the page bottom, to the full story of all the dirty, double dealing that's been happening -- for years. There's another one to the BBC report on the same, sorry story. Bombshells -- both. At least, that's how they should be seen.

Next taster -- this time, from the BBC.

** " The US turned a blind eye to the former Iraq regime's $8bn trade in smuggled oil, a new US Senate report says.

The report says the US was well aware of both the smuggling and the kickbacks Iraq solicited from players in the UN's oil-for-food programme." **

I wonder if all this was meant to be blurred by rehashed claims George Galloway was the arch villain, eh? Along with the claims that the French [of course] were ' at it' as well. Oh, and how could I forget -- Anan and his UN crew, too. As well as the Russians, remember.

Oh, yeah. Sure. Uncle Tom-bloody-Cobley, and all.

Hi rimone, here's the very latest from the BBC this afternoon 17th May. { Nice to 'see' you here, btw.}

- Galloway angrily denies oil claim

George Galloway has dismissed the allegations as ridiculous
George Galloway has angrily dismissed allegations by US senators he profited from oil dealings with Saddam Hussein.
The UK MP denied ever being involved in oil trading and accused senators of being "cavalier" with justice.

"I am not now nor have I ever been an oil trader and neither has anyone on my behalf," Mr Galloway told senators.

"l have never seen a barrel of oil, owned one, bought one sold one and neither has anybody on my behalf."

'Mother of all smokescreens'

Mr Galloway went on the offensive as soon as he began to speak, saying he had met Saddam Hussein on two occasions - the same number of times as US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

"The difference is Donald Rumsfeld met him to sell him guns and maps - the better to target those guns. I met him to try to bring about an end to sanctions, suffering and war," he said.

The accusations levelled against him was the "mother of all smokescreens", he said.

The biggest sanctions busters were American companies "with the connivance" of the US government.

Mr Galloway denied being an apologist for the former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

He said he had been a long-term opponent of Saddam, and had a much better record of opposition to the Iraqi leader than members of the American or British governments.

'Full of holes'

Earlier, Mark Greenblatt, who is acting as counsel to the Committee, told the hearing a senior official in Saddam Hussein's regime confirmed that Fawaz Zureikat, who was chairman of the charity, the Mariam Appeal, which was set up by Mr Galloway, facilitated the MPs oil allocations.

Mr Greenblatt said: "A senior regime official that was interviewed yesterday confirmed that Zureikat facilitated Galloway's oil transactions.

"He told me (and I quote) - 'It's my understanding that Zureikat is oil lifter for Galloway'."

Fawaz Zureikat has strongly denied making any arrangements linked to oil sales on behalf of Mr Galloway.

Hi Dena. Good to 'see' you here. There are millions of us hoping the same thing - believe me - you're by no means alone.

One of these days - just one of these days, eh?

Thom & Chad, you're both very welcome. It makes it [my work] all seem worth while, when it's appreciated. Thank you both. Please help get the word/truth out there. Quote me in part or in full - pass it all.

There are way more decent people around, than there are thieving, murderous criminals -- millions more!

And, those mega-crooks bloody well know it. Trouble is, not enough of 'us' have realised that, yet -- and far too of us keep too bloody quiet -- for far too long -- too damned often.

Well, haven't they heard any of our old Anglo-Saxon sayings?

Every dog has it's day. The worm always turns. Etc, etc, etc.

My thanks for your thanks, Fast Moving Cloud. It's my pleasure, to please.

I don't think it's so much a case of a shortage of real reporters; more a case of crooked newspaper owners, cowardly editors and cowed sub editors.

Millions of good journalists' words are spiked/killed every single day, by their shameful bosses.

It's down to the likes of people like you and me - and the net - to beat these media whores at their own game.

We'll make the decisions that matter. We'll ignore/spike/kill their silly, spin-stories. We'll publish via the web -- and be damned. We'll do our own advertising & marketing too. If we get enough help & support, of course.

Heh. What d'you say, eh?

Glad you enjoyed reading it, Whispering Campaign. I can tell you, I certainly enjoyed writing it.

As for the "yeah, buts" -- I know what you mean. We've got more than our own fair share of them over here, too. But, we don't call them friends. Heh. Know what I'm saying?

Seriously, it's a numbers game, imho. Even if 99 out of every 100 'don't get it' yet - there's always one who will. And, that's the one that matters. 'Cos that's the one who won't be able to wait to tell everyone what he/she has just found out.

Let's call it something like ... er .... maybe .... ummm ... 'pyramid selling,' eh? ;^)

Glad that the Bush administration tried to pick on someone outside their bubble, and heartening to see that it didn't play. You have done the planet a service.

Parsek, thanks. Anything I can do for the planet and it's people -- I'll die doing. Like it or not, we all will.

So, lets do our damnest to make our planet a better place - for everyone - while we're still here to do it.

What did I tell ya, Harper? He's something special, eh?

The problem is, though, the knives are still out for him - both here and in the US. The 'system[s]' must never be seen to be 'beaten'.

He's already intimated he'll be stepping down from politics, before the next election. I can't say I blame him; he's done more than his fair share. He's had to endure more than his fair share, too.

Sadly, the Briish people and their parliament will be a poorer place without him, when he does decide to go.

OH! TPTB is The Powers That Be! Sorry! I thought everyone on the web knew that one like LOL or ROTFLMAO or TTFN! That'll learn me to ass-u-me!

I've spent the last 30 YEARS trying to alert my fellow Americans about those monsters of The American Religious Reich! But do you think I've had ANY luck at all? Well, not till today with Richard's and Elaine's help I haven't!
