An Ever Widening Web Of Deceit ...

*

If anyone thought the web of wicked deceit surrounding the scandalous shooting of the innocent young Brazilian was widespread -- then they need to think again -- because it's fast becoming apparent that things are even worse than they seemed. If they're not, then it must be my own mental health that is. By which I mean, the arrogant audacity of these absolute arseholes is almost completely beyond my comprehension.

If this isn't one of the greatest conspiracies ever perpetrated in the UK, This Old Brit will ...... will ...... will ...... will show his bare arse in Woolworths window, come next Saturday afternoon.

Here's a clip from a [Monday July 25, ] BBC piece reporting on Jean Charles de Menezes' inquest, where it was confirmed [on Saturday July 23] that he'd been shot eight times; seven times in the head and once in the shoulder.

Note particularly the short, sweet, simple and succint third paragraph -- the 'Detective Inspector Elizabeth Baker' one. Please, please, please -- note it well!

Police shot Brazilian eight times

The man mistaken for a suicide bomber by police was shot eight times, an inquest into his death has heard.

Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, was shot seven times in the head and once in the shoulder, at Stockwell Tube station, south London, on Friday.

Det Insp Elizabeth Baker revealed the details at a hearing in London.
Okay? Read it? Understood it? Noted it? Good! Then continue.

Read the following extract from an Observer piece, from Sunday July 24 - the day between Saturday's inquest into the murdered man's killing - and the publishing of the BBC piece.

Again, pay particular attention to the third paragraph. This time, it's the victim's cousin revealing something. Something that is so bloody big and immensely important, that's it's shocking significance is almost impossible to exaggerate.

The dead man, killed at Stockwell tube station on Friday after fleeing from armed police, was named as 27-year-old Jean Charles de Menezes. His body was identified by Alex Pereira, a cousin who lives in London and who afterwards told The Observer: 'I can't believe they shot him, because he was not a terrorist. He was an honest man.

'We [the family] are still too shocked to talk about it. But I am sure [that] he didn't do anything wrong. It was not right for the police to do that.'

Pereira said that the most upsetting part of identifying his cousin was 'to see bullet wounds in his back and his neck when I went to the mortuary in Greenwich.'
Erm ...... excuse me? Bullet wounds in his back? And in his neck?

But no mention of his head? Eh? Pardon? No mention? None? None at all?

Well, I warned it was getting worse, didn't I?

nice catch rick.

im totally at a loss as to what is going on.

of course we have other strange circumstances - including the curious inflation from the '4 or 5' shots to 8 shots. maybe it can be attributed to confusion, but i imagine that 8 shots doesnt sound like '4 or 5' - 8 shots probably just sounds like 'a lot'

(btw - ive been reading you since you got wolcotted - ive only just now discovered your comments section - thanks for the invitation and the welcome!)

Hi Lukery! Welcome to my favorite old sod's blog!

I'm with you Richard, curiouser and curiouser! I'm seeing things these days that I haven't seen being pulled in over 30 years happening all over again and people swallowing them as though it were a brand new scam that they'd never seen. I mean things harkening back to Tricky Dick Nixon and the Dirty Tricks politics of the late 60's. The whispering campaigns, the "3rd party" smear campaigns, the underhanded crap that we thought had been abandon with Watergate for God's sake.

I watched an interesting documentary the other night on IFC called "Bush's Brain", all about how Karl Rove managed to weasel his way into the Bush family's good graces and about his love of the old Republican Dirty Tricks and his complete lack of a conscious. Scary stuff! Scary because it's undeniably true! Terrifying because there is no way for the people to get him out!

I don't get it - is it because the police don't want to admit they are bad shots, or because they don't even know the facts?

What's your point?

After taking seven shots to the head, how much "head" could there have been left?

It's not that easy for a layman to look at a corpse and to determine where the bullets entered and where they exited. Some calibres of bullets make small entry wounds and horrendously large exit wounds. Bullets can also change trajectory in the human body, so that a round that enters the temple, for example, could conceivably exit out the neck.

Just sayin'

I picked up your link from Wolcott - and now will be a regular. British police picked up the head/neck shooting technique from the Israelis. I found the whole story when it first broke in the US very disturbing and as I read more it just gets worse. Thank you for keeping us up to date. Juancole.com has some interesting entries on the British Moslem terror cells for interested readers. What has happened to the Egyptian chemist?

turn your back to the mirror and then turn your head towards the mirror to look at yourself, in a pinup girl style. can you draw a line, on one side of which is your shoulder, and the other side is your back, with no overlap? i can't. if someboday shot me in the shoulderblade and i told the doctor i'd been shot in the back, i don't think he'd suspect me of lying for nefarious purposes.

this is good writing, but you're starting to sound a bit loony.

So, I still don't get it - why say it was in the head and not the neck? What difference does it make?

I read your comments re SAS rather than Dixon of Dock Green and I have to say it struck a nerve. When the British troops went on surveillance in Northern Ireland - watching IRA etc., the unit was composed of an officer, NCO, and Special Branch policeman in army attire. Certainly 7 bullets in the back of the neck - execution style smacks of the SAS! God love that poor man he must have been petrified!

Blogger Richard said...

Thank you all for your interest and input; be it positive, negative or neutral.

To try to cover the main points raised so far:

The Egyptian chemist was [quickly] cleared of any connection[s].

My main 'point' was the the complete absence of any reference to the corpse's head, by the identifying cousin. This head supposedly had been hit with seven bullets - from close range. Yet the cousin describes the "most upsetting thing" as seeing "bullet wounds in his back and his neck".

Yet, as I wrote, absolutely NO mention of the head.

As James Wolcott opined earlier today - there is murk and stink here. If we don't all see and smell the same things, well .... that's just the way life is, I suppose.

f it turns out that his immigration status was in question, then why he ran is understandable. In this circumstance it is no wonder that the police shot him dead. What the hell can you expect of officers faced with what seems, in the hysteria of the moment, a running bomb? Even if his running was not related to the bombing. Sheesh. Let's second-guess everybody. I think I personally would've shot him dead 20 times to ensure detonation would not occur. But of course, I would not know his motives for running. Frankly, as I suspect of the officers involved, I'da been scared shitless.

Glad to see evidence of more readers, Richard!

Good eye, catching that whopper of a discrepancy. At least it sure looks like a discrepancy. The neck and back wounds could have been exit wounds, but no mention of head wounds is very strange.

ronzonirigatoni, The men who did the shooting were not dressed as policemen. There is a fair liklihood the Brazilian did not know they were law enforcement people at all. They had followed him from his apartment building, picking up their speed as he picked up his. Under the circumstances, you would run for your life, too.

If I were a passenger on the Bus that transported Mr.Menendez the three miles to the Stockwell Station while being followed by these plainclothes policemen;I'd be wondering why I was expendable as a bus passenger while the tube passengers had to be protected.

i posted this [below] before [yesterday] but no one picked up on it

it is all so twisted - maybe for reasons too complicated for us to figure - they could be switching bodies around - yes? no?

******
they started 'hitting' targets-before yesterday

but the news has been 'blacked out'

but not before a new zealander working for reuters in london managed to get this into print in new zealand ~~~~~~~~

'Police shot bombers' reports New Zealander

09.07.05

A New Zealander working for Reuters in London says two colleagues witnessed the unconfirmed shooting by police of two apparent suicide bombers outside the HSBC tower at Canary Wharf in London.

The New Zealander, who did not want to be named, said the killing of the two men wearing bombs happened at 10.30am on Thursday (London time).

Following the shooting, the 8000 workers in the 44-storey tower were told to stay away from windows and remain in the building for at least six hours, the New Zealand man said.

He was not prepared to give the names of his two English colleagues, who he said witnessed the shooting from a building across the road from the tower.

Reports of attacks carried out by suicide bombers have been rife in London.

Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper reported an unconfirmed incident of police shooting a bomber outside the HSBC tower.

does anyone have a theory about what has gone on here? are we presuming that the body they are now 'investigating' is not that of the brazilian?

if so, does anyone have a theory as to why?

(btw Old Brit - do you prefer Rick or Richard?)

His body was identified by Alex Pereira, a cousin who lives in London and who afterwards told The Observer: 'I can't believe they shot him, because he was not a terrorist. He was an honest man.

'We [the family] are still too shocked to talk about it.

And if the above quoted statement is not one of the greatest contradictory statements ever printed, I'll bare my ass with you. Any particular branch of Woolworths?

The dead mans cousins have not stopped talking to the worlds media since it happened.

The following link provides a prime example of how misunderstandings, may be construed as conspiracies due to nothing more sinister nor simple as the real meaning is lost in translation. And lack of knowledge by foreign residents as to the laws and procedures of the country in which they are residing.

Alex Pereira, (the cousin of the dead man) who formally identified his cousin states: "At first they tried to pretend; they said 'He might be dead', but when I got to the place in Greenwich where they told me to go, they couldn't pretend any more."

Mr Pereira saw his cousin's face despite a policeman's effort to keep him away.

"It was bloated and I could see where one of the bullets had come through the front of his skull. But I still recognised him."

The truth of the matter being, they, (the Police) did'nt try to pretend, they had to have formal identification it was indeed his cousin who was dead.

the innocent brazilian guy was just hanging out around the wrong cops.

I haven't been following news stories about terrorism too closely because they're all pretty dismal, but this shooting the suspect to pieces struck me as odd. The more I thought about it, the less sense it made. Old Brit, your ideas seem to explain it a bit.

Rosemary: I do not question the man's reasons for running. He obviously had them. I merely point out that police, particularly in the UK, are not especially trigger-happy. Having survived the "drug wars" (Miami, 70's & 80's, no less), I recall the very heavy restrictions on the use of "deadly force." When the bobbies put this guy down, I do not doubt for a minute that they believed they were facing a moment of very personal danger themselves.

Curiouser and curiouser.
This morning's news(Guardian and Independent) is now reporting Mr.Menendez was NOT wearing a "puffer",or "heavy" jacket but rather a "jean jacket".
He did NOT jump the ticket barrier but used a "travel card".
Shooting a terrified innocent infront of a car load of horrified tube passengers, many of whom gave statements to the media 5 minutes after the incident,is proving difficult for the Police to spin.
If this had taken place in a dark alley,of course, they wouldn't have the problem they have today.

The more this story plays out in the news the more it becomes a case of the "Three Stooges Go Shopping" as far as the police are looking. Will we EVER know what really happened? There are enough witnesses I think we will... one day... in the future. Will we ever know why the police acted the way they did? Nope. Not a chance.

I think we need DCI Tennyson on this investigation.

Clearly the real police can't handle it.

Richard, what about the nail bombs? CNN says there must be tension between American "intelligence" and Scotland Yard. Seems the Yanks spilled the beans.

Do keep us informed - and thanks!

* tension between American "intelligence" and Scotland Yard.

I think that's an understatement, cosmic. I'd say there's "tension" at a much higher level than Scotland Yard.

The nail bombs? Hmm. Jury's still out on that one.

On top of what cameron posted that was in the Gurdian about him NOT having on a jacket, nor a rucksack.

The poor man was also mugged not long ago. He probable noticed he was being followed and paniced. I do it when I'm out for a normal walk or jog, if I notice someone shadowing me, my pace and course changes drastically and I'm in the "safe" burbs of America right now.

Sandra that thinks the police are being duped by intelligence forces for a political propuse.
